From the Ape's mouth Why I want to be on the Student Council
Over the past few months, I’ve grown to love the DAA even more than when I first aped in, and ultimately it comes down to community. There was a huge shift from when we first started, to when the DAOO split off — at first I was a holder expecting the team to create value for me by growing the brand, but now I see it as my responsibility to humbly serve that community with my experiences, aptitudes, resources and talents. For that reason, I am applying for a spot on the council in the Tech/Dev/Builder role.
I hope that my track record so far has given an indication of the contributions I’m capable of making to the DAOO. From jump starting the website initiative, outlining a content architecture/strategy, to designing/developing/deploying our DICS landing page and the Raffle designs — I see it as just the start of what I’m capable of producing given the extra responsibility placed on being a council member.
Beyond the tech side of the coin, I know myself to be a thoughtful, considered, and intentional member of the community. I love to geek out on governance structures, have philosophical talks about botters, and seek to assist any DAOO member whenever I’m able (which working in tech means I’m often at my computer and available). I am a generalist with a deep aptitude in tech.
I see this role not as being the ultimate Chad dev that just does it all themselves, but rather an opportunity to coordinate, mentor, and create opportunities for other apes to feel like they have the green light to build the amazing things they are capable of. Early on with the website, I had a convo with another ape (now building the Raffle react app) and it struck home that I never want to be a gatekeeper, but rather a facilitator that would be able to channel the creative energy towards the best outcomes.
My vision for the DAOO is to be a place where the ecosystem’s best developer talent wants to belong. This is two fold:
Developers want access to the best communities and want to build stuff for people that want to use it. I’ve seen time and again that giving developers an onramp can lead to massive adoption. So far, I’ve set up a GitHub organization for the DAOO that can be a home base for this type of work.
I want to develop a set of utilities, tools, apps that can be either exclusively for DAA or produce revenue for the DAOO. Things like a floor analysis tool, a mint-squad mint system, a snapshot machine, the list is literally endless.... I think all these things will make joining the DAOO a top priority for anyone looking for value beyond just community/association.
A few questions we have What do you think about....
- What do you love most about the Degeniverse?
The thing I love the most is the people that I get to meet from all over the world and from all walks of life.
- What skillset or experience do you have that sets you apart from other candidates, and how do you plan to utilize it for the benefit of the community?
- What would a successful 120 day term look like to you, i.e. what do you hope the council will be able to accomplish?
Taking our DAOO website to the next stage which involves a publishing platform, regular voting capabilities, and an ability to help onboard new people.
